When you’re planning a trip to Sonoma Country, you want to spend as much time outdoors as possible, particularly if you’re visiting in the fall. This time of year is truly spectacular, bringing out breathtaking colors without the oppressive heat that the summertime can bring. If you’re searching for things to do on a fall vacation in Sonoma County, take a trip down the Sonoma County Bike Path! You can stay active, explore nature, and run into some incredible wineries along the way.
What to Expect Along the Path
This bike path, officially known as the Sonoma City Trail, runs through some of the county’s most beautiful neighborhoods and fields. You’ll be riding on the same route that the Sonoma Valley Railroad Company used back in the day to get through the town of Sonoma. As you ride, you’ll find some truly stunning sights all around you, as well as plenty of beautiful and intriguing wineries.
Wineries Along the Way
But what wineries will you see along the way? The first one you’re likely to come to is Sebastiani Winery, which specializes in concentrated and complex wines that are sure to please any palate. This winery also emphasizes sustainability, ensuring that they produce world-class wines that are easy on the environment. Sebastiani Winery has been in this business for more than 100 years, and you can taste the experience in every drop.
You’ll also come to the Bartholomew Estate Vineyards and Winery on your journey. This winery has only been open since the spring of 2019, but it’s already established itself as one of the most popular wineries in the area. When you get here, you can stop to enjoy a wine tasting, purchase a bottle to enjoy with a picnic lunch on the lawn, or hop off your bike to go hiking along the 3-mile trail on the property.
Voted as one of the “10 Beautiful Wineries to Visit in Sonoma,” Buena Vista Winery is one you’re not going to want to miss. This incredible winery has been in business since 1857! Not only is there some fascinating history here, but of course, you’ll also find some of the most unique and delicious offerings of Wine Country. They have combined traditional knowledge with modern techniques to create simply one-of-a-kind offerings. You can book a traditional tasting on the property or book the Barrel Tasting and Winery Tour for something unique!
Last but certainly not least, a trip to Gundlach Bundschu Winery is sure to be in order. Founded in 1858, this establishment is the oldest family-owned winery in the state of California! Of course, there are some great opportunities to taste the wine here, but you may also enjoy simply strolling around the breathtaking grounds and soaking up the sun. This venue also holds live music performances throughout the year, making it a great place to end your evening with a light meal, a glass of wine, and your closest friends.
