Asahi Sushi
Healdsburg sushi doesn’t get much better than Asahi Sushi. Dine inside or select a spot on the patio to enjoy some of the most authentic Japanese cuisines Sonoma County offers. The specialty rolls here are unlike any other, with unique varieties like the Surf N Turf Roll, the Crazy Ninja, and the Godzilla Roll.
If you have dietary restrictions, you’ll be happy to know that several vegetarian sushi rolls are available! You can also find futomaki thicker and fatter than the traditional sushi roll. Finally, if you want something to split with the table, try the edamame, shishito peppers, or shumai.
Asahi Sushi is located at 335 Healdsburg Avenue in Healdsburg. They’re open daily from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. and again from 5 to 8:30 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, they stay open until 8:45 p.m.
Otoro Sushi
When you’re on the hunt for Sonoma County restaurants, trying to find some that use fresh, local ingredients is best. That’s what you’ll get here at Otoro Sushi! Every dish is prepared with fresh produce and local farmers’ market ingredients.
Begin your meal with an appetizer like agedash, soft shell crab, or shrimp tempura. Then, it’s time to look at the sushi and sashimi options, which are nearly endless! Just a few of the local favorites include the New Mexico Roll, the lobster roll, the baked salmon roll, and the Mango Tropical Roll. Your only problem will be narrowing down the dozens of choices!
Otoro Sushi is located at 1280 Healdsburg Avenue #10 in Healdsburg. They’re open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4:30 to 8 p.m.
Sake’O
Sake’O is the place to be for “Japanese-inspired fare with a modern twist,” as they put it. The team here takes pride in using only the freshest ingredients in each dish and as many local goods as possible. The result is unique and mouthwatering sushi every single time.
The Chef’s Specialty Rolls offer something for everyone, from the Tropical Roll with salmon to the Healdsburg Roll with tuna. If you’re looking for a vegetarian option, go for the Grass Hopper! For something spicy, consider the Volcano Roll or the Lion King Roll.
Sake’O is located at 505 Healdsburg Avenue in Healdsburg. They’re open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 4 to 9 p.m. (though the last seating is at 8:30).
Willi’s Seafood
While staying in our Sonoma County vacation rentals and looking for great sushi, don’t limit yourself to traditional Japanese restaurants. Head to Willi’s Seafood to see what’s in store! You can find everything from seasonal cocktails and small plates to raw bar selections and, of course, sushi.
All menu options, including sushi, may change with the season depending on what’s available, so be sure to ask ahead or check the menu online before you arrive. One thing’s for sure: no matter what’s on the menu, you’ll find fresh seafood like shrimp, clams, ahi tuna, lobster, and more.
Willi’s Seafood is located at 403 Healdsburg Avenue in Healdsburg and is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Ume Japanese Bistro
At Ume Japanese Bistro, the mission is about so much more than providing a great meal. The team here is also dedicated to informing and educating their guests about Japanese culture and traditions, including the culinary specialties that Japan is known for.
You’ll first find sashimi selections on the sushi bar menu like Hamachi, maguro, and escolar. Handrolls include fresh seafood favorites like spicy tuna, shrimp, scallops, and even eel! For a traditional roll, go for the Hawaiian, Pink Panther, Saigon, or 49er.
Ume Japanese Bistro is located at 8710 Old Redwood Highway in Windsor. They’re open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. They’re open for dinner Monday through Thursday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
Qimura
Qimura offers an upscale yet welcoming atmosphere where you can enjoy sushi, ramen, and many other Japanese favorites. Grandma Qimura is the inspiration behind many dishes here, and she even provided the recipes for some of them!
Some of the famous specialty rolls on offer here include the Rock Star Roll (with barbecue eel), the Black Jack Roll (featuring grilled salmon skin), and the Fallen Angel Roll (with snow crab). You can, of course, also get traditional options like the Philadelphia Roll or the California Roll. If you’re not in the mood for sushi, check out their impressive ramen selections!
Qimura is located at 8960 Brooks Road South in Windsor and is open daily from 12 noon to 8:30 p.m.

Haku Sushi
Haku Sushi was first opened in 2013 and was initially known as Mushashi Sushi and, later, Sapporo Japanese Restaurant. Haku is returning to its roots with its menu selections today, offering some of the area’s most delicious traditional sushi selections and specialty rolls crafted with local ingredients and paired with house-made sauces.
There are many classic sushi rolls on the menu, such as the California roll, spicy tuna roll, and veggie tempura roll. But if you want something more unique, you’re in luck! Try the Bazinga roll, which features shrimp tempura, avocado, and crab. The Napoleon Dynamite roll makes spicy tuna the star of the show. Other notable signature rolls include Release the Kraken, Silent But Deadly, Big Boss, and Twilight Zone.
Haku Sushi is located at 518 7th Street in Santa Rosa and is open daily from 10 a.m. until 12 midnight.
Shogun
Last but not least on our list is Shogun, a traditional Japanese restaurant that has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike. You’ll be welcomed by friendly staff and will be treated to delectable Japanese flavors that will have you coming back for more.
Whether you’re looking for sushi or sashimi, you can find it at Shogun. Many guests choose a specialty roll like the Ocean’s Trio, Under the Sea, or Cherry Blossom. Get one for yourself, or get several to share with the table! In addition to the sushi and sashimi selections, Shogun also offers full dinners like chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu, and vegetable tempura.
Shogun is located at 1531 Farmers Lane in Santa Rosa. While they’re closed on Monday, they serve lunch Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Dinner is served from 4:30 to 9 p.m. On Sunday, dinner is served from 4 to 8:45 p.m.
