Sonoma County, California, is a beautiful place for a vacation! There are countless vineyards and wineries to explore throughout the area, all from the freshest grapes and other ingredients grown right here in the area. But if you’re looking for fresh produce for your Sonoma County vacation, you can find it at the Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market!
This exciting event is easily one of the best things to do near Santa Rosa, which is why it’s so popular with guests in our Sonoma County rentals with hot tubs. Here’s what you should know before you go!
What is the Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market?
The Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market has been running since 1978 and has been one of the most beloved events in the area ever since. Back then, this market was one of California’s original 22 Certified Farmers’ Markets, beginning a strong tradition of appreciation for local vendors.
At this event, you can find plenty of produce, of course, but that’s not all! Vendors here carry everything from flowers and cheeses to bread, fish, olive oil, eggs, and more. Even beyond food, the Farmers’ Market also offers handmade crafts from talented local artisans (plus, you can meet them right at the market and learn the stories behind the pieces!).
Even if you’re not interested in purchasing anything from the market, it’s worth visiting to experience all of the fun events going on throughout the year. Zucchini races and pumpkin carving contests are just the beginning! You can experience live music during the summertime and cooking demos teaching you how to prepare the freshest ingredients of the season.
Schedule
The Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market takes place throughout the summer, fall, and winter months, so visitors to the area can attend the market nearly any time!
In 2022, the market is open on Saturdays through December 17 from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon. You’ll find the market at the West Plaza parking lot. You can also visit the market on Tuesdays through October 25 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., located in Plaza Park.
Location
The Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market is held at the Downtown Healdsburg Plaza between Healdsburg Avenue and Matheson Street. Remember that the market is held in the plaza itself on Tuesday, but on Saturday, you’ll need to head to the West Plaza parking lot. You’ll find this parking lot at North and Vine Streets one block west of the Plaza.
On Saturdays, you can park in one of the first two aisles of the West Plaza lot. If you’re visiting on Tuesday, you won’t find any dedicated parking spots, but typically, you can find parking in town near the Plaza and simply walk to the market.
